Big Hat Spirits was inspired by the stories of the original Gypsy Songman, Jerry Jeff Walker, most famous for the song, “Mr. Bojangles” and pioneering the Outlaw and Progressive Country genre that is alive and well today.
In one of Jerry Jeff’s songs, he tells the story of the “The Man With The Big Hat,” a legendary cowboy figure, not by fame, but by the unforgettable impression he left on others. This larger than life, genuine cowboy character tells the tales of cowboy life out living on the trail. The song portrays a picture of people at a bar gathering around this man with the big hat listening and hanging on every word of his tales that are so worthy to be remembered and cherished.
This led us to an important question, “What tales and legends do each of us personally cherish and are worthy to be passed on from generation to generation?"
Big Hat Spirits was born to honor these legends and keep their stories alive and well.
